Ernest and Young’s 2018 global leadership forecast more than 1000 C-level executives identified the issues they expect to command their attention in the coming year.
Of the 28 challenges from which they could choose, their biggest concerns were not headline-worthy global issues like political instability, climate change, or global recession.
Rather, the top challenges vying for their attention action were – developing next generation leaders – failure to attract/retain top talent. In the same survey only 41% believed their leadership development program is of high quality!
Leadership and management development are at a cross roads. Individualised development is key and not at the point of being placed in a new role of leadership, long before that as part of an integrated succession plan.
